Oil & Gas Offshore platform cabin frame

Important specification

  • Corrosion resistance
Recommendation

Offshore cabin frames require steel with high corrosion resistance, especially adapted to marine and saline environments. Magnelis® is a new type of metallic coated steel which is especially well adapted for structures (racks, frames...).

Magnelis® is coated on both sides with a zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy. This alloy, composed of 93.5% zinc, 3.5% aluminum and 3% magnesium, is applied by means of a continuous hot dip galvanizing process. The optimum chemical composition provides the best results in terms of corrosion resistance in harsh environments.

Magnelis® ZM310 (25 μm) is the most suitable coating in harsh environments and offers a guarantee of up to 25 years onshore and 20 years in marine environment (C5). We recently developed a thicker coated Magnelis® ZM430 (35 μm) which offers an even higher lifetime expectation.
